Thanksgiving Eve Service
Wed. Nov. 23rd, 6:00 pm
Come join us for an hour of praise and thanks.
Moses and Aaron and his sons were to camp to the east of the tabernacle, toward the sunrise, in front of the tent of meeting. They were responsible for the care of the sanctuary on behalf of the Israelites. Anyone else who approached the sanctuary was to be put to death. Numbers 3:38
God was very specific about who was supposed to do what in the tent of worship. The people did not get to choose what they did, but each task was important and holy before the Lord.
I think about the age we live in, and how particular we are about our jobs, about where we live, and how we tend to cut loose if we aren’t happy enough. These men were set for life in these roles (as were their children most likely), despite having different personalities and gifting. This was all ordained by a loving God.
Reading this reminds me how good I have life, where in this time period I have choices about where I work, and have so many creature comforts such as cars, washers, computers, plumbing, and electricity. We need, I need, to be thankful for all I have. I need to be thankful for the freedom and the beauty I see everyday living here in Santa Barbara. And when I have to deal with a few unpleasantries at work or in life, I can remember a loving God put me here in this time and in this place for this season, as part of His great plan.
Lord thank you for this day, and for my many blessings in my life. I am happy to serve you in the tasks you have placed before me, knowing ultimately they contribute toward your kingdom.
With a thankful heart,
(NLC Associate Pastor)
